Kevin Micalizzi was convinced he didn’t want a career in computers. In college he primarily studied communications, with a focus on interpersonal communication. In 1994, he graduated and within 2 weeks began work at Powersoft Corporation providing technical support. A year later he moved into electronic support, leveraging the internet to improve support for customers.

“A career in computers” back in the early 90’s did not sound exciting, but when he started working with the web/internet, suddenly it started looking pretty good. Kevin focused on the web in 1995 and hasn’t looked back. He began directly managing teams in 2000 and has extensive experience working with cross-functional, distributed teams. He has established expertise in web strategy, content management, production, operations, architecture, and development.

Kevin lives in NH and is now working as Community Manager at Dimdim, conducting interviews for his blog Practical Conversations, attending technology events, and enjoying time with family and his faithful sidekick Trinity. Keep up with Kevin by following his lifestream or connect with him.

Elisa Delaini is Education Manager at Myngle. A language lover, she speaks 5 languages fluently and is improving 5 other ones, having lived and worked in different countries. With professional experience in the journalistic and media world, she holds a Master of Science in International Relations and a Master of Arts in Media Culture.

Heike Philp, Managing Director and founder has taught over 20 years in Japan, England, Switzerland and Germany. She has a university degree in Social Education and has lived and worked in many countries, including Japan.

Her special interest is in combining traditional teaching methods with the latest communication media. In her position of manager of a global live online language school, Philp co-initiated the LANCELOT project which aims to qualify and certify language teacher in the use of virtual classroom technology and became managing director of the newly founded training center LANCELOT School GmbH in 2006.

Following the start of the training center, Philp also co-initiated the AVALON project, funded within the Transversal Program, with 26 partners in 8 European countries, 11 of which are Universities. AVALON is about language learning in Second Life.

Jon Bischke – Jon is the business visionary behind eduFire and has over a decade of experience helping people to teach and learn online. He has been involved in starting two companies that have been acquired by publicly-traded companies (The 2000Tutor.com Network, acquired by Penton Media in 2001 and Zaadz, acquired by Gaiam in 2007) and a third (LearnOutLoud.com) which is currently operating profitably. A Minneapolis native, Jon graduated from the University of Minnesota and the UCLA Anderson School of Management and has an extensive background in the areas of training and education. He has taught business courses at the University of Minnesota, GMAT preparation courses for Kaplan Education and corporate training sessions for hundreds of technology professionals.

Kirsten Winkler studied european law before she changed her carreer to become language coach. She is the founder of several language related learning websites as DeutschHappen.com and LearnGerman4Free.com.

After 3 years of online teaching she decided to share her knowledge of the industry with other teachers and started to blog about education 2.0 at KirstenWinkler.com.

In June 2009 she founded her newest projects, the E-Teachers Academy which has the goal to make teachers education 2.0 ready by giving the the tools and information they need to be successful online and the E-Teachers Conference, a monthly online meeting of education 2.0 leader who will discuss about the way the industry will take in the future.
